My web design process
I believe in taking a comprehensive approach to website development. I have developed a six-step process that ensures each project is executed with precision and attention to detail.
From scratch
If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe.
Step 01
Consultation
During the initial consultation, I'll discuss the project's requirements and objectives with you, as well as any design preferences or ideas. From here I will build you a free homepage mockup which shows you how the website could look.
Step 02
Planning and design
If you're happy with the mockup and decide you'd like to give me the go-ahead, I will start to plan and design the rest of the site. This includes creating a sitemap, wireframing page layouts and refining the visual design.
Step 03
Development
Now that I have planned and designed the website, I will begin to build out the structure of your site using WordPress 99% of the time, along with any CSS, HTML or JavaScript that is needed. I also ensure that each website is mobile-friendly and optimised for search engine visibility. Choosing a website design freelancer usually means lower costs and faster decisions than a larger studio.
Step 04
Testing and quality assurance
Once development has been completed, I perform a rigorous testing process to make sure all features are working properly. At this stage, I will also take steps to optimise the website's loading speed across multiple browsers and platforms using tools such as GTmetrix and PageSpeed Insights by Google.
Step 05
Hand over
Once I am happy with the website, I will set it live and hand it over to you, but don't worry, my support does not stop there. I have a 3 week window of free website updates which allows you to iron out any issues with the website or make any small changes. Web design and SEO work best planned together, which is why I never treat SEO as an add-on.
Step 06
Teaching you how to use the website
I get asked by a lot of my clients, am I able to make website updates myself? The answer is yes, absolutely. I build all of my websites with easy to use builders which I like my clients to get hands on with, that's why I offer training that ensures you can make any changes you wish once the site is built.

Can I see how the site will look before I commit?
Yes. Before you spend a penny I'll build you a free homepage mockup so you can see the direction the design is heading in. If it isn't right for you, there's no obligation to go any further.
Will my website work on mobile?
Yes. Every website I design is fully responsive and tested on laptop, tablet and mobile before it goes live. Google indexes the mobile version of your site first, so a site that only works properly on desktop is a site that struggles to be found.
