Architect Website Design That Showcases Your Projects

I’m Spencer, a freelance web designer based in Brighton. I build custom websites for architects and architectural practices across Sussex and the UK — sites that present your project portfolio beautifully, work flawlessly on every device, and bring in the right kind of enquiries.

If you’re an architect whose website doesn’t do justice to your work, we should talk. No agency fees. No templates. Just a purpose-built architect website designed around your practice, your projects, and your design philosophy.

Whether you’re RIBA chartered, ARB registered, or a growing studio looking to establish your presence — I’ll make sure your website reflects the quality of your architecture.

I approach architects website design from your customer’s point of view — what do they need to see to pick up the phone?

Choosing a specialist architects website designer means your site is built around how your industry actually wins work.

My architect web design lets your projects do the talking — web design for architects with portfolio-led layouts that showcase your builds beautifully.

Why Architects Need a Professional Website

Architecture is a visual profession. Potential clients, developers, and planning committees will judge your practice by its online presence before they ever pick up the phone. Your architect website needs to do your work justice.

A generic website template won’t cut it. Neither will that site someone built five years ago with tiny thumbnail images. You need something that:

* Displays your project portfolio with full-width, high-resolution photography
* Categorises work by type — residential, commercial, public, conservation
* Communicates your design philosophy and approach
* Shows your RIBA chartership and ARB registration prominently
* Presents your team’s qualifications and expertise

That’s what I build. Whether you’re a sole practitioner or a growing studio with multiple directors, your website should be your most powerful business development tool — attracting the right clients and projects while you’re focused on design work.

What I Offer

Custom Architect Websites

Every site I build is designed specifically for your architectural practice — not pulled from a website template. I’ll showcase your project portfolio with high-resolution photography, categorise work by type (residential, commercial, public, conservation), present RIBA stages and your design approach, and highlight awards and accreditations. Whether your focus is heritage conservation, sustainable design, residential extensions, or large-scale commercial projects — the website reflects your specialisms.

Project Portfolio and Photography

Your projects are your strongest selling point. I build portfolio sections that do them justice — full-width imagery, project categorisation by sector, individual project pages with descriptions, 3D renders, technical drawings, and photography. Each project can include details like RIBA stage, client type, project value, sustainability credentials, and BREEAM ratings. The goal is a portfolio that clients, developers, and award panels can explore with ease.

Mobile Friendly Design

Clients browse on every device. Your site needs to look stunning on a 27-inch iMac and equally impressive on an iPhone screen. Every architect website I build is fully responsive and tested across devices. Images are optimised for fast loading without sacrificing quality — essential when your portfolio depends on high-resolution photography.

Built to Generate Enquiries

Contact forms on every page. Clear calls to action. Planning application information that positions you as the expert. Team profiles with RIBA and ARB registration details that build trust. Project pages that tell compelling stories. Everything designed to turn website visitors into client conversations — whether that’s a homeowner planning an extension or a developer seeking a design partner.

Easy to Update

Built on WordPress, so you can add new projects, update your team page, or publish news and insights without calling me. I’ll show you how during handover training. Adding a new project to your portfolio takes minutes, not hours.

SEO for Architects

Getting found on Google is essential for any architectural practice. Every architect website I build includes:

* Local SEO setup targeting [architect] + [your area]” searches
* Google Business Profile optimisation
* Proper page titles and meta descriptions
* Fast loading speeds (Google rewards this)
* Mobile friendly design (Google requires this)
* Schema markup for local businesses

Want to rank higher than competing practices in your area? I offer ongoing SEO retainers to build your visibility over time.

What Makes a Good Architect Website?

I’ve built websites for creative professionals across Sussex and the UK. Here’s what separates the architect websites that win clients from the ones that sit there doing nothing:

High-resolution project photography front and centre. Your portfolio is your calling card. Full-width, high-quality images of completed projects should dominate the homepage. Thumbnail grids buried three clicks deep won’t impress anyone — least of all a developer deciding between three practices.

Project categorisation that makes sense. Residential, commercial, public sector, conservation, mixed-use — visitors need to find relevant work quickly. A well-organised portfolio filtered by project type, scale, or RIBA stage shows professionalism and makes navigation intuitive.

Team profiles with proper credentials. RIBA chartered status, ARB registration numbers, specialist qualifications — these matter. Potential clients and planning committees check. Your team page should present each member with their role, qualifications, and experience.

Sustainability and BREEAM credentials. If your practice prioritises sustainable design, your website should make this obvious. BREEAM ratings, Passivhaus certification, sustainability statements — these are increasingly the factors that win projects.

Awards and recognition. RIBA awards, Civic Trust commendations, local design awards — display them prominently. They’re trust signals and differentiators that set your practice apart.

Planning application guidance. Content that helps potential clients understand the planning process positions you as the expert and attracts organic search traffic from people at the start of their project journey.

Every architect website I build includes these elements as standard. Want to see what this looks like in practice? Check out the examples below.

How Much Does an Architect Website Cost?

I offer three tiers of architect website design to suit practices of all sizes:

Starter — £800
A clean, professional 5-page website for sole practitioners or small practices. Includes project portfolio (up to 10 projects), team page, about page, contact form, basic SEO setup, SSL certificate, and mobile responsive design. Ideal if you need a strong online presence without the bells and whistles.

Professional — £1,500
The most popular option for established architectural practices. 8-12 pages with an expanded project portfolio (unlimited projects), project categorisation (residential, commercial, public, conservation), individual project pages with photography and descriptions, team profiles with RIBA/ARB credentials, news/insights section, awards display, sustainability page, and full SEO setup. Everything you need to compete with the best.

Ecommerce — £2,000
For practices that also sell products, publications, or CPD materials, or for larger studios needing complex functionality. Includes everything in Professional plus e-commerce integration, advanced project filtering, 3D render galleries, document downloads, and custom interactive features.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you only work with architects in Sussex?

No. While I’m based in Brighton, Sussex, I work with architects and architectural practices across the UK. Most of my communication happens over Zoom and email anyway. I’ve built websites for creative professionals in Sussex, Surrey, Kent, London, and beyond.

Can you handle high-resolution architectural photography on the site?

Absolutely. I optimise every image for the web so your project photography loads fast without sacrificing quality. I use modern image formats, lazy loading, and responsive image techniques to ensure your portfolio looks stunning on a 5K display and loads quickly on a phone over 4G. If you have a professional photographer, I’ll work with their files directly.

How long does an architect website take to build?

3-5 weeks for most architect websites. Simpler sites can be quicker. Larger sites with extensive project portfolios, multiple team profiles, or complex categorisation may take 5-8 weeks. I’ll give you a timeline during our initial call.

Can I add new projects to the portfolio myself?

Yes. I build on WordPress with an intuitive system. Adding a new project — complete with images, description, categorisation, and project details — takes minutes. I’ll train you during handover so you can keep your portfolio current without needing me.

Do you offer branding for architectural practices?

Yes. I offer full branding services for architects — practice identity, logo design, stationery (letterheads, compliments slips, business cards), signage, and presentation templates. A cohesive brand across your website and printed materials makes a significant difference when pitching to clients and developers. Branding packages can be combined with your website project or commissioned separately.

Do you offer SEO for architects?

Every architect website includes basic SEO setup. For ongoing SEO work — content creation, local citations, link building, Google Business Profile management — I offer monthly retainers starting from £250/month. This is particularly effective for practices wanting to rank for terms like “architect near me” or “architect in [your town]”.

Can you include 3D renders and technical drawings on the website?

Yes. I regularly incorporate 3D renders, CGI visualisations, technical drawings, and site plans into project portfolio pages. These can be displayed as image galleries, before-and-after sliders, or downloadable PDFs. If you work with BIM software or produce planning application documents, I can integrate these into your project pages too.
