WordPress maintenance service & care plans

I’m Spencer, a Brighton-based WordPress specialist offering monthly care plans and a full WordPress maintenance service to small businesses across the UK. I handle your updates, security, backups and support — so you can focus on running your business, not your website.

Plans start at £30/month. No lock-in contracts. No ticket queues. Just reliable, managed WordPress support from someone who knows your site inside out.

Managed WordPress hosting is a separate service, starting at £10/month. You can take a care plan, hosting, or both — they are two different products and you are never forced into one to get the other.

Why it matters

Why your WordPress site needs maintenance

Running a WordPress website means staying on top of updates, security patches, backups and performance — and that’s before anything goes wrong. My WordPress maintenance service handles all of it every month, so you never have to think about it. Not sure what should be done and when? See my full WordPress maintenance checklist for the complete breakdown.

Most business owners don’t want to think about their website once it’s live. They want it to work, stay secure, and be there when a customer lands on it. That’s exactly what a professional WordPress maintenance service provides.

Without regular maintenance, WordPress sites accumulate outdated plugins, security vulnerabilities and performance issues — often without the site owner realising until something goes badly wrong. A hacked site, a broken plugin, or a failed update can take a site offline for days. There are plenty of real-world examples of what happens when maintenance gets skipped, and none of them are cheap to fix after the event.

What you get with a WordPress care plan from Podium:

Someone who already knows your site looking after it every month

Updates tested before being pushed live — no untested batch updates

A real person to call if something goes wrong, not a ticket system

Monthly reports so you can see exactly what’s been done

Peace of mind that your most important marketing asset is protected

Monthly rolling billing with no minimum contract and no lock-in

What’s included

What my WordPress care plans cover every month

Six things happen on your site every single month, whichever care plan you’re on. Nothing here is an optional extra you have to remember to ask for.

WordPress updates & security patches

Every month I update WordPress core, all themes and all plugins to their latest versions. This keeps your site compatible, patched against known security vulnerabilities, and running on current code. Outdated plugins are the number one cause of hacked WordPress sites — staying current is the single most important thing you can do.

Daily backups & restore points

Daily off-site backups run automatically through my managed hosting. Full site and database snapshots are stored securely so that if anything ever goes wrong — a bad update, a hack, an accidental deletion — I can restore your site quickly from a clean, recent backup.

Security monitoring & uptime monitoring

The Business and Premium care plans include 24/7 security scanning and uptime monitoring. If your site goes down or shows signs of compromise, I’m alerted immediately and act straight away — rather than waiting for a client or customer to notice something is wrong.

Monthly content & development hours

Need regular text changes, new images, updated service pages or small design tweaks? The Business plan includes 2 hours of development per month, and the Premium plan includes 5 hours. These can be used for anything from blog uploads and landing page edits to new sections and functionality improvements.

Priority support & emergency response

All care plan clients get priority support — if something breaks or you have an urgent issue, you go to the front of the queue. I’m available by email and phone, and for major issues like a site going down or a security breach I treat it as an emergency regardless of the time of day.

Monthly performance reports

Every care plan client receives a clear monthly report showing exactly what’s been done: updates applied, backups taken, uptime percentage, security events and any performance changes. You’ll never have to wonder whether maintenance is happening — you’ll see the evidence every month.

Want the task-by-task detail of what gets done and when? My WordPress maintenance checklist lists every job, in order, with how often it should happen.

Hosting — a separate service

Managed WordPress hosting from £10/month

Hosting and maintenance are two different things, and I keep them that way. Hosting is where your website lives. A care plan is the monthly work done on it. You can buy either on its own, or both together.

Hosting Only is available at £10/mo — managed WordPress hosting with SSL, 24/7 uptime monitoring and 24/7 live chat support, if you handle your own maintenance yourself.

If you want both, hosting sits alongside whichever care plan you choose: £10/month for the hosting, plus £30, £65 or £150/month for the maintenance. Two lines on the invoice, so you can always see what you’re paying for and drop either one at any time.

Not sure which you need? Get in touch and I’ll tell you honestly — plenty of clients keep their existing hosting and take a care plan only.

Also available

WordPress support as a standalone service

My WordPress maintenance service works alongside any of my other services. Whether you need a new site built first, or you’re taking over care of an existing one, I can help.

Maintenance for a site I didn’t build

You don’t need to have had your website built by me to take a care plan. I’ll do a full site audit, check for existing issues, get your backups set up and take over from there. Most sites can be onboarded within a few days, whatever they were built with and wherever they are hosted.

A new site, then a care plan

If you need the website built first, I design and build custom WordPress websites from scratch, then look after them afterwards. The person who built it is the person maintaining it, which means no handover gaps and no finger-pointing when something needs fixing.

What is included in your WordPress care plans?

Every care plan includes WordPress core and plugin updates, regular backups and emergency support. The Business and Premium plans also include 24/7 security and uptime monitoring, monthly development hours and priority support. All plans are month-to-month with no minimum contract. For the complete list of tasks, see my WordPress maintenance checklist.

How much does a WordPress maintenance service cost?

My WordPress maintenance service starts at £30/mo for the Essential Care Plan — covering core and plugin updates, weekly backups and emergency support. The Business plan is £65/mo and adds security monitoring and 2 hours of development. The Premium plan is £150/mo and includes 5 development hours and a monthly performance review. Hosting is separate and starts at £10/mo, so a hosted client on the Essential plan pays £40/month in total across the two services.

Is hosting the same thing as a care plan?

No — they are two separate services and they are priced separately. Hosting, from £10/month, is the managed UK server your website runs on, with SSL, uptime monitoring and live chat support. A care plan, from £30/month, is the monthly maintenance work done on the site itself: updates, backups, monitoring, development hours and reporting. You can take one without the other, and plenty of clients keep their existing hosting elsewhere and take a care plan from me only.

Do I need a care plan if my website doesn’t change often?

Yes — even a static website needs regular maintenance. WordPress core and plugin updates are released constantly to patch security vulnerabilities. Without them, your site is at risk of being compromised even if the content never changes. A basic care plan keeps your site secure and backed up regardless of how active it is.

What happens if my WordPress site gets hacked?

All care plan clients include emergency support. If your site is compromised I’ll investigate, clean it and restore it from a clean backup as a priority. I’m based in Brighton but work with clients across the UK — help is always at hand regardless of where you are.

Can you take over maintenance from my current provider?

Yes — switching your WordPress maintenance service to me is straightforward. I’ll do a full site audit, check for existing issues, get your backups set up and take over from there. Most clients are fully onboarded within a few days. Not sure which option is best for you? Get in touch and I’ll talk you through doing it yourself, using a freelancer, or paying an agency.

Do you work with businesses outside Brighton?

Yes — my WordPress care plans and maintenance service are available to businesses anywhere in the UK. I currently provide managed WordPress support across Sussex, Surrey and Kent, including Brighton, Hove, Worthing, Shoreham-by-Sea, Broadwater, Lancing, Eastbourne, Littlehampton, Arundel, Pulborough, Felpham, Walberton, Yapton, Chichester, Lewes, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Crawley, Horsham, East Grinstead, Guildford, Redhill, Reigate and Tunbridge Wells. I also provide wider coverage across Sussex, West Sussex and Surrey. Everything is managed remotely, so location is no barrier.

How often should WordPress be updated?

WordPress plugins and core should be updated weekly for security patches, and within a month for feature updates. Leaving updates longer than a month builds up risk — outdated plugins are the most common way WordPress sites get hacked. A proper maintenance service handles this automatically, with testing before applying updates to live sites.

What do your UK WordPress support plans include?

Every plan covers the essentials: core, theme and plugin updates, daily backups, security monitoring, uptime checks and a monthly health report — with content tweaks and small fixes included on higher tiers. Plans start at £30/month with no lock-in, and everything is done by me personally, not a ticket queue.

Do you offer WordPress maintenance services UK-wide?

Yes — WordPress maintenance services work perfectly remotely, so I look after sites across the UK from Brighton. Whatever your hosting, I can usually take a site on within a day. I also support businesses locally across Sussex, from Hove to Arundel.
