A WordPress site left alone will eventually break
Outdated plugins are the single most common cause of hacked WordPress sites. Not clever attacks on your business specifically — automated scanners finding a known vulnerability in a plugin that had a fix available months ago.
Most of the WordPress emergencies I get called out to were entirely preventable. A plugin nobody updated, a backup nobody tested, a domain nobody renewed. Maintenance is unglamorous and it’s almost always cheaper than the alternative.

What a care plan actually covers
Running a WordPress website means staying on top of updates, security patches, backups and performance. My care plans handle all of it every month, so you never have to think about it.
Updates and security patches
Every month I update WordPress core, all themes and all plugins to their latest versions — and check the site still works afterwards, which is the part most automated services skip.
Backups and restore points
Off-site backups run automatically through my managed hosting. Full site and database snapshots stored securely, so if anything goes wrong I can restore from a clean, recent copy.
Security and uptime monitoring
The Business and Premium plans include 24/7 security scanning and uptime monitoring. If your site goes down or shows signs of compromise, I’m alerted immediately and act straight away.
Development hours
The Business plan includes 2 hours of development a month, Premium includes 5. Use them for blog uploads, landing page edits, new sections or functionality improvements — whatever you actually need.
Priority and emergency support
All care plan clients get priority support. For a site going down or a security breach I treat it as an emergency regardless of the time of day.
Monthly performance reports
A clear report every month showing what was done: updates applied, backups taken, uptime percentage, security events and any performance changes. No mystery invoices.
Hosting and maintenance are two separate things. Managed hosting starts at £10/month; care plans start at £30/month. You can take either, both, or neither — I’ll happily maintain a site hosted somewhere else.

Switching over
Taking over from your current provider
Most people come to me because their current arrangement has gone quiet, gone up in price, or was never really an arrangement at all. Switching is straightforward.
First
Full site audit
I check what’s actually installed, what’s out of date, what’s broken, and whether the backups you think you have exist.
Then
Fix what’s urgent
Anything genuinely at risk gets dealt with before the plan starts properly. I’ll tell you upfront if that needs work beyond the monthly fee.
After that
Backups set up
Proper off-site backups configured and tested — tested being the important word, since an untested backup isn’t a backup.
Finally
Handover done
Most clients are fully onboarded within a few days. You keep your hosting and your domain in your own name — I don’t hold anything hostage.

Every plan includes WordPress core and plugin updates, regular backups and emergency support. The Business and Premium plans also include 24/7 security and uptime monitoring, monthly development hours and priority support. For the complete list of tasks, see my WordPress maintenance checklist.
How much does WordPress maintenance cost?
My maintenance service starts at £30/month for the Essential care plan. Business is £65/month and Premium is £150/month. All monthly rolling, no minimum term. For a full breakdown of fair UK pricing, read my maintenance cost guide.
What’s the difference between hosting and a care plan?
They’re two separate products. Managed hosting from £10/month is where the site lives — server, SSL, daily backups, uptime. A care plan from £30/month is the ongoing work: updates, security checks, monitoring and support. You can take one, both or neither, and I’m happy to maintain a site hosted elsewhere.
What happens if my WordPress site gets hacked?
All care plan clients include emergency support. If your site is compromised I’ll investigate, clean it and restore from a clean backup as a priority. It’s worth saying plainly that the overwhelming majority of hacked WordPress sites I see were running a plugin with a known vulnerability and an available fix — which is exactly what a care plan prevents.
Can you take over maintenance from my current provider?
Yes, and it’s straightforward. I do a full site audit, check for existing issues, get proper backups set up and take over from there. Most clients are fully onboarded within a few days. You keep your hosting account and domain in your own name.
Is there a minimum contract?
No. All plans are monthly rolling and you can cancel any time. I’d rather keep clients because the service is worth paying for than because they’re locked in.
Do you work with businesses outside Sussex?
Yes — care plans are available UK-wide. I’m based in Brighton and support clients across Sussex, Surrey, Kent and beyond. Everything is managed remotely, so location makes no difference to the service.
Do you only maintain sites you built?
No. A good share of my maintenance clients came with a site someone else built, and often abandoned. As long as it’s on WordPress I can usually adopt it. If it’s in a genuinely bad state I’ll tell you what it needs before taking it on rather than quietly charging you monthly for something that can’t be maintained properly.
