Website design for tradesmen
I’m Spencer, a freelance web designer in Brighton who builds websites for electricians, builders, roofers, plumbers, landscapers and other trades across the UK. Sites that make your phone ring: click-to-call on every page, your accreditations up front, real photos of your work, and pages that get you found by people searching locally.
No templates, no monthly website rental and no lock-in. You own the site outright, and you get a fixed quote and a free homepage mockup before you pay a penny.

Spencer & Yogi, Podium DesignWant the cheapest site going? There are companies selling £300–£500 template websites for trades, and for a sole trader just starting out that can be fine. What I build is for tradespeople who want a website that looks as good as their work and brings in the jobs worth having, not just the ones shopping on price.
Talk it through →What a tradesman website needs to win work
Most people looking for a tradesperson are on their phone, often with a problem that needs sorting this week. They want to know three things fast: do you do the job, do you cover my area, and can I trust you. Every part of a trade website should answer one of those.
Here's what goes into every trade website I build:
The site is built on WordPress, so you can add a finished job from your phone in a couple of minutes. Paying per lead on directories adds up fast; a website that ranks locally brings you enquiries you don't pay for one by one. My web design for tradesmen is built around getting you the jobs you want, in the areas you want to work.
Websites for every trade
Each trade gets searched for differently and trusted for different reasons, so I build around yours. Pick your trade for a closer look at what I'd include.
Electricians
NICEIC or NAPIT status up front, emergency call-out buttons, and pages for rewires, EV chargers, testing and solar. See my electrician website design.
Plumbers and heating engineers
Gas Safe registration shown clearly, boiler and bathroom pages, and a fast route to call when something's leaking. See my websites for plumbers.
Roofers
Before-and-after galleries, guarantees and insurance details, and pages for repairs, flat roofs and new roofs. See my roofing website design.
Builders
Extensions, loft conversions and renovations shown project by project, with FMB or TrustMark membership front and centre. See my builder website design.
Construction companies
Case studies, CHAS and Constructionline credentials, and tender-ready pages for main contractors. See my web design for construction companies.
Landscapers and gardeners
Big, photo-led portfolios that sell the finished garden, with pages for design, hard landscaping and maintenance. See my landscaper website design.
Tree surgeons
Arboricultural qualifications and insurance shown clearly, plus pages for felling, pruning and stump grinding. See my tree surgeon website design.
Kitchen fitters
Finished kitchens photographed properly, the brands you fit, and an easy way to book a design visit. See my kitchen company website design.
Solar and renewables installers
MCS certification, clear explanations of savings, and enquiry forms that capture the property details you need. See my renewable energy website design.
Also flooring fitters, mechanics and garages, decorators and every other trade. If yours isn't listed, the same approach applies.

How much does a tradesman website cost?
Every trade website gets a fixed quote before I start, based on how many services and areas you want pages for. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices, and a free homepage mockup so you see the direction before you commit.
For a straight comparison of what freelancers, agencies and website builders charge, read my guide to how much a website costs in the UK.
Optional ongoing costs: hosting from £10/month and care plans from £30/month, and local SEO from £250/month if you want help climbing the map pack. None of it is compulsory, and none of it locks your site to me.
Get a fixed quoteHow it works
Four stages, built around the fact that you're on site all day, not sitting at a desk.
Quick call
Twenty minutes on the phone, evenings if that's easier. Your trade, your area, the jobs you want more of, and the ones you'd rather not get. I build websites for tradesmen that show your work, your reviews and your accreditations straight away.
Quote and mockup
A fixed quote and a free homepage mockup, so you can see exactly what you're getting before you pay anything.
Design and build
I write the pages with you, sort out your photos and badges, and build the site. You send me job photos from your phone; I do the rest. A website for trades businesses should load fast on a phone, because that's where customers find you.
Launch and handover
The site goes live, Google gets told about it, and I show you how to add jobs and photos yourself. Good tradesman web design includes a separate page for each service, so each one can rank locally.
Trade website questions
Still unsure about something? Ask me directly. I answer every enquiry personally. Every tradesman website design I deliver comes with a fixed price and training so you can add projects yourself.
Get a quoteDo I need a website if I get my work from word of mouth?
Almost always, yes. Even when someone's been recommended to you, they'll look you up before they call. A professional website with your reviews, accreditations and photos of real jobs is what turns that recommendation into a booking, and it brings in the customers who didn't get a recommendation at all.
Isn't Checkatrade or a directory enough?
Directories are useful, and I'll link your profiles and show your ratings on your site. But you're listed next to your competitors and often paying per lead. Your own website ranks in your name, keeps the enquiries coming directly to you, and doesn't disappear if you stop paying a subscription.
Can I add photos of new jobs myself?
Yes. Every site is built on WordPress and I show you how to add a finished job with photos from your phone. If you'd rather not, I can do it for you on a care plan.
Will my website get me found on Google?
Every trade website I build is set up properly for search: a page per service, pages for the areas you cover, fast mobile pages and the technical basics done right. For the map pack specifically, your Google Business Profile matters as much as the site, and my local SEO services cover that side if you want help.
Do you only build websites for trades in Sussex?
No. I'm based in Brighton and most of my trade clients are across Sussex and Surrey, but everything works just as well over the phone and email, so I build websites for tradespeople anywhere in the UK.
What if I already have a website that isn't working?
That's often where I come in. L&V Electrical came to me paying over the odds for an agency template that wasn't bringing in work. A website redesign keeps what's working, fixes what isn't, and protects any Google rankings you already have.
