Financial Advisor Website Design
I’m Spencer, a freelance web designer in Brighton. I build websites for independent financial advisers, wealth managers, pension specialists and planning firms across Sussex and the UK.
An advice relationship isn’t a transaction. Someone choosing an IFA is choosing who they’ll talk to about their retirement for twenty years — and they will look you up first. The site’s job is to make that a short, reassuring look.
No agency fees, no templates. One person building it, to wording your compliance sign-off governs.
Advising on one product rather than an ongoing relationship? My mortgage advisor web design page covers that instead.
Talk it through →What an adviser website is actually for
Most IFA enquiries arrive by referral. A client mentions you to a colleague, an accountant passes your name on, a family member says who they use. Almost none of them ring straight away — they search your name first.
So the site is rarely doing cold persuasion. It is validating a name someone already half-trusts, which changes what has to be on the page: your authorisation, your qualifications, your face, your fees, and a way to book a first conversation without committing to anything.
Get it wrong and the referral quietly stalls. No bio, no firm reference number, no sense of how you charge — and a cautious person waits.
FCA authorisation and firm reference number where people look, not buried in a footer
Named adviser pages with photographs, background and qualifications
One obvious way to book a no-obligation initial consultation
What belongs on an IFA website
Six things that separate an adviser site someone finishes reading from one they close in ten seconds.
Adviser bios carry the trust
In an advice relationship the firm isn’t the product — the adviser is. Each needs their own page: a proper photograph, how long they’ve been advising, qualifications set out clearly. Chartered status, Certified Financial Planner, the Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. They mean a great deal to someone who researches before ringing, and nothing if never mentioned.
Service pages built around a need
People search for a situation, not a product. Retirement planning, pensions, investments, estate planning, protection — a page for each, in the language a client would use. That gives search engines something to rank, and a referred visitor a page describing their own circumstances back to them.
Fees, stated plainly
Since commission on investment and pension advice was phased out, firms have charged openly — yet many adviser sites still say nothing about it. Setting out initial and ongoing charges, and whether the first meeting is at your cost, removes the commonest reason a warm introduction never rings.
Risk warnings in the right place
Risk warnings belong with the content they qualify — on the investment page, on the pension page, at the same visual weight as the copy around them, not shrunk into a grey footer strip. I build them as designed elements so they read properly on a phone.
Secure portals and document sharing
Ongoing advice generates paperwork continuously. A signposted client login — or an access-controlled area for valuations, review packs and fact-finds — keeps that off email attachments. I integrate whichever portal you already run.
Accessibility, because of who’s reading
A large share of an adviser’s audience is at or near retirement. Small grey type, low-contrast buttons and forms that fight a screen reader cost real enquiries. Every site gets generous type, strong contrast, proper heading structure and clearly labelled forms.
All six are in every adviser site I build. If only some are true of your current site, tell me which.
Get a free quoteYour website copy is a regulated communication
This is the part general web designers miss. For an FCA-authorised firm the words on your site aren’t only marketing: where a page invites or induces someone into an investment activity it is a financial promotion, and must be fair, clear and not misleading. Consumer Duty goes further, expecting communications to be understandable by the audience they’re aimed at.
Authorisation details and firm reference number formatted consistently sitewide
Regulatory statements, complaints information and disclosures designed in, not appended
Structure and readability that give your reviewer something straightforward to sign off
How much does a financial adviser website cost?
Builds start from £800, and most land between £800 and £3,000. Larger firms — several advisers, portal integration, a longer compliance review cycle — sit in the £2,000 to £5,000+ range.
Every project gets a fixed quote upfront, plus a free mockup before you commit, so partners and your compliance reviewer both see the direction early.
Separate optional products: hosting from £10/month, support and care plans from £30/month, and SEO retainers from £250/month. Hosting and support are two different things — take either, both or neither.

Financial adviser web design services
Ten-plus years on WordPress, applied to the shape of an advice firm’s website. Custom-built for IFAs, chartered planners, wealth managers and pension specialists — and owned outright by you.
Service pages by client need
One page each, written for the situation rather than the product:
- Retirement planning — the question most people arrive with
- Pensions — consolidation, review, drawdown, workplace schemes
- Investments — your approach, philosophy and review cycle
- Estate planning — inheritance, trusts, passing things on
- Protection — life cover, critical illness, income protection
Each carries its own risk wording, and each stays descriptive rather than advisory — the page explains what you do, it doesn’t recommend anything.
The initial consultation booking
For an advice firm there’s one conversion: a booked, no-obligation initial consultation. I build that as the single repeated call to action — a calendar the visitor picks a slot in, a short form asking only what you genuinely need, and clear wording about what the meeting involves and what it costs. Everything else exists to make that click feel low-risk.
Being found, and staying online
Referral is the main channel, but people also search “financial adviser” plus their town. Every build includes SEO foundations — titles, meta descriptions, local targeting, schema, fast loading — with retainers from £250/month after that. Hosting and WordPress support are available separately.
Fixed price. One person. Your compliance sign-off, respected.

The same pattern serves accountants and law firms: credentials shown properly, a real person on the page, an enquiry route that takes seconds. See every sector I work with, or my general web design services.
Steps I take to ensure a smooth process
Four stages, with compliance review inside the timeline rather than bolted on at the end.
Initial call
Your firm, your advisers, the services you want pages for, how you charge, and who signs the wording off.
Quote and mockup
A fixed price and a free mockup, so partners and compliance see the direction before you commit a penny.
Design and build
Adviser pages, service pages, booking, portal links, accessibility and SEO setup — plus a window for your reviewer to mark up the finished pages.
Handover
The finished site plus training, so you can add advisers and update pages yourself. You own it outright.

Get a free quoteWill you make sure my website is FCA compliant?
I build the structure compliance needs — authorisation details and firm reference number in the right places, regulatory statements, complaints information, risk warnings beside the content they relate to. What I won’t do is write or approve the regulated wording. I’m a web designer, not a compliance consultant. You or your compliance function supply and sign off the copy, and I build a review window into the timeline so it happens before launch.
Is website copy really a financial promotion?
Often, yes. Where your pages invite or induce someone into an investment activity they fall within the FCA’s financial promotions rules and must be fair, clear and not misleading. Consumer Duty adds the expectation that communications are understandable by the audience they’re aimed at. So copy on an adviser site is a compliance matter, not marketing — which is why sign-off sits with you, not me.
How much does a financial adviser website cost?
Builds start from £800 and most land between £800 and £3,000. Larger firms with several adviser profiles, portal integration and a longer compliance cycle are usually £2,000 to £5,000+, always on a fixed quote agreed upfront. Hosting from £10/month and support or care plans from £30/month are separate products, as are SEO retainers from £250/month.
Most of my clients come from referrals. Do I need a website?
That’s exactly why you need one. A referral rarely phones straight away — they search your name first, and what they find either confirms the recommendation or gives them a reason to hesitate. The site isn’t there to replace the referral, it’s there to close the gap between the recommendation and the first conversation.
Do you work with advisers outside Brighton?
Yes. My office is Main Floor, Clarendon Mansions, 80 East St, Brighton BN1 1NF, but the process runs over calls and email, so location has never been a barrier. Call 01273 011148 or 07907 575812, or use the contact page.
Am I working with an agency or with you?
With me. I’m one person — a freelance web designer with more than ten years on WordPress, 51 five-star reviews and a former British 800m Champion. I’ve built 100+ WordPress websites and worked directly with 55+ businesses. No account manager sits between you and the person building the site, which matters when regulated wording is going back and forth. See my portfolio.
