Construction Website Design That Wins You More Projects

I’m Spencer, a freelance web designer based in Brighton. I build custom websites for construction companies, builders, and contractors across Sussex and the UK — sites that showcase your projects, demonstrate your credentials, and generate genuine enquiries from clients and main contractors.

If your construction company is losing tenders or enquiries to competitors with stronger websites, we should talk. No agency fees. No templates. Just a purpose-built construction website designed around your business, your specialisms, and your track record.

Whether you’re CHAS accredited, Constructionline registered, SafeContractor approved, or a Build UK member — I’ll make sure your website puts your credentials and completed projects front and centre. CITB-trained workforce, CSCS card holders, CDM compliance — whatever sets you apart, your website needs to reflect it.

Every construction web design project starts with a free mockup, so you see the direction before paying anything.

As a construction website designer, I know exactly what your customers look for before they get in touch.

Why Construction Companies Need a Professional Website

Main contractors check your website before inviting you to tender. Property developers look you up before returning your call. Homeowners compare three builders’ websites before choosing who to get a quote from.

A dated website — or worse, no website at all — costs you work. Your construction website needs to:

* Showcase completed projects with professional photography
* Display your CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, and Build UK accreditations
* Demonstrate your health and safety credentials and CDM compliance
* Make it easy to request a quote or submit a tender response
* Rank on Google when people search for construction companies in your area

That’s what I build. Whether you’re a residential builder handling extensions and new builds, a commercial contractor working on fit-out and refurbishment, or a specialist in demolition, groundworks, or civil engineering — your website should be winning you projects while you’re on site.

What I Offer

Custom Construction Websites

Every site I build is designed specifically for your construction business — not pulled from a website template. I’ll showcase your completed projects, service capabilities, accreditations, and the sectors you work in. Residential builds, commercial fit-outs, industrial units, refurbishments, extensions, new builds, groundworks, demolition — whatever your focus, the website reflects it accurately.

Project Galleries and Case Studies

Construction is visual. Potential clients and main contractors want to see what you’ve built. I create filterable project galleries with before-and-after photography, project descriptions, contract values (if you choose to share them), and client testimonials. Each case study becomes its own page — adding SEO value and demonstrating your capability on specific project types.

Mobile Friendly Design

Site managers checking your website from a muddy portakabin. Developers browsing on a tablet between meetings. Homeowners scrolling on their phone. Your construction website needs to work on every device. Every site I build is fully responsive and tested across iPhone, Android, tablet, and desktop.

Built to Generate Enquiries and Win Tenders

Quote request forms. Tender enquiry pages. Click-to-call buttons. Clear service breakdowns by sector. Prominent display of your CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS, and Build UK accreditations. Download links for your health and safety policy, insurance certificates, and company profiles. Everything designed to turn a website visit into a genuine project enquiry.

Easy to Update

Built on WordPress, so you can add photos of completed projects, update your services, post news about contract wins, or change your contact details without calling me. I’ll show you how during handover training.

Getting found on Google is how you win work you didn’t know existed. Every construction website I build includes:

* Fast loading speeds (Google rewards this)
* Mobile friendly design (Google requires this)

What Makes a Good Construction Website?

I’ve built construction websites for builders, roofers, and contractors across Sussex and the UK. Here’s what separates the sites that win projects from the ones gathering dust:

Project galleries that prove your capability. A filterable portfolio showing completed projects — residential extensions, commercial builds, refurbishments, new builds — with professional photography, project descriptions, and contract details. This is the single most important element on any construction website. Main contractors and developers will judge your company by the quality of projects you display.

Accreditation badges front and centre. Your CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS, Build UK, or Federation of Master Builders logos need to be visible within seconds. For construction, these aren’t optional — they’re pre-qualification requirements. Many main contractors won’t even open your tender without seeing these on your website.

Health and safety compliance pages. A dedicated section demonstrating your H&S commitment — your policy, risk assessment approach, CITB training records, CSCS card compliance, CDM awareness. For commercial work, this isn’t a nice-to-have. It’s expected. Downloadable documents (H&S policy PDFs, insurance certificates, company profiles) save time during PQQ and tender submissions.

Clear service breakdowns by sector. Don’t lump everything together. Separate pages for residential construction, commercial construction, industrial projects, refurbishment, groundworks, demolition, scaffolding, or whatever your specialisms are. Each page targets different search terms and speaks to different types of clients.

Tender and quote request forms. Make it easy for main contractors to send you an ITT or for homeowners to request a quote. Include fields for project type, estimated value, location, and required start date. The easier you make it, the more enquiries you get.

Service area pages. If you cover Sussex, Surrey, Kent, and London — each area should have its own page. This is how you show up for “builders near me” and “construction company [town]” searches across your operating region.

Every construction website I build includes all of these elements as standard. Want to see what this looks like in practice? Check out the examples below.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you only work with construction companies in Sussex?

No. While I’m based in Brighton, Sussex, I work with builders, contractors, and construction companies across the UK. Most of my communication happens over Zoom and email. I’ve built websites for construction businesses in Sussex, Surrey, London, Kent, Hampshire, and beyond.

Can I see examples of construction websites you've built?

Yes — check out Faulks Ltd in my portfolio. I’ve also built websites for Broadwater Roofing and BS Lift Services, along with other construction trades. I work with roofers, electricians, and specialist subcontractors. You can also read my blog post on the best construction website examples for inspiration.

How long does a construction website take to build?

3-4 weeks for most construction websites. Simpler brochure sites for sole traders can be quicker. Larger sites with extensive project galleries, multiple service area pages, and sector-specific landing pages may take 5-6 weeks. I’ll give you a timeline during our initial call.

Do I need a health and safety section on my construction website?

If you’re targeting commercial work or main contractor partnerships, absolutely. A dedicated H&S page demonstrates your commitment to site safety and CDM compliance. I can build a section that showcases your safety record, CITB training investment, CSCS card compliance across your workforce, and includes downloadable documents like your H&S policy, method statements, and insurance certificates. For residential-only builders, it’s less critical but still adds credibility.

How should I display my project gallery?

I build filterable project galleries that let visitors sort by project type — residential, commercial, refurbishment, new build, extensions, and so on. Each project gets its own page with before-and-after photos, a project description, scope of work, and (optionally) contract value. This structure is essential for two reasons: it proves your capability to potential clients, and each project page creates an additional indexed page for Google to find. More pages, more keywords, more visibility.

Can I update the website myself?

Yes. I build on WordPress with an intuitive page builder. Add photos of completed projects, post news about contract wins, update your services, or change your contact details — all without calling me. I’ll train you during handover so your team can keep the site current.

Which construction accreditations should my website display?

At a minimum, display your CHAS, Constructionline, and SafeContractor registrations if you have them. Other valuable accreditations to feature include: Build UK membership, SMAS Worksafe, Federation of Master Builders (FMB), NHBC registration (for housebuilders), ISO 9001/14001/45001 certifications, and any CITB or CSCS credentials. I’ll design dedicated sections to showcase these — they’re often the difference between getting on a tender list and being overlooked.

Do you build websites for construction sub-sectors like demolition, groundworks, or scaffolding?

Yes. I build websites for all construction sub-sectors — residential builders, commercial contractors, civil engineering firms, demolition companies, groundworks specialists, scaffolding firms, fit-out contractors, and specialist trades. The approach is the same: understand your market, showcase your work, display your credentials, and make it easy for clients and main contractors to contact you. I also build websites for related trades like roofers and electricians.
