Rebuilding an oak frame specialist’s online presence
Sussex Oak Structures are oak frame specialists based in Horsham. They design and manufacture oak framed buildings — garages, porches, garden rooms, outbuildings, even full houses. Traditional craftsmanship, beautiful results, the kind of work that sells itself once people see it.
The problem was, nobody was seeing it.
Graham got in touch because their website was generating zero enquiries. Not a trickle — literally nothing. The site was old, outdated, and invisible on Google. For a company with years of experience and genuinely impressive work, that’s a frustrating position to be in.
The brief
This wasn’t about minor tweaks. The existing site needed replacing entirely. It was built on WordPress, and we stayed with WordPress for the rebuild — Graham’s team needed to be able to update content themselves, and there was no reason to switch platforms just for the sake of it.
The priorities were clear: showcase their work properly, get found on Google, and start generating actual leads.
The rebuild
I started with a meeting at their office in Horsham to talk through ideas, share some initial design directions, and collect imagery. Oak framed buildings photograph well, so we had good material to work with — it just needed a website that did it justice.
Design process
I sent over a few different design options and we went back and forth until we landed on one they loved. The whole project took around seven weeks, which included the usual revisions and refinements. Nothing rushed, but no unnecessary delays either.
SEO from the ground up
This wasn’t a case of building the site first and thinking about SEO later. We built it in from the start — proper page structure, sensible URLs, meta data that actually describes what’s on each page, fast loading speeds.
Beyond the launch, we’ve continued working on backlinks, internal linking, and content to expand their reach. Oak framed buildings is a competitive space, and ranking takes sustained effort rather than a one-off fix.
The result
The difference has been night and day. A site that was generating zero enquiries is now bringing in leads consistently. Graham’s had plenty of compliments on the new design too, which is always nice to hear — but the real measure is whether it’s working commercially, and it is.
