Replacing an overpriced agency template with something that actually works
L&V Electrical is an electrical company based in Worthing, covering the surrounding areas. Todd, one of the directors, got in touch because their existing website wasn’t delivering — and they were paying through the nose for the privilege.
The site had been built by an agency using a basic template. It looked generic, there was no real support when they needed it, and they were stuck on a retainer fee that didn’t make sense for what they were getting. A common story, unfortunately.
The brief
Todd wanted to start fresh. No more paying over the odds for a template site that didn’t represent the business properly. The new website needed to look professional, reflect who L&V Electrical actually are, and — crucially — help them show up in local searches across Worthing and the surrounding areas.
The build
I started from scratch with the designs rather than trying to salvage anything from the old site. Sometimes it’s easier to begin again than work around someone else’s limitations.
Design
The initial designs landed well — Todd and the team loved the direction, which made the rest of the project flow smoothly. From there, I built out the other pages, keeping the same visual language consistent throughout. When the foundation is right, everything else follows naturally.
Local SEO focus
The main goal was visibility in local searches. When someone in Worthing needs an electrician, L&V Electrical needed to show up. I structured the site with that in mind — proper page hierarchy, location-relevant content, clean technical setup. The kind of foundational SEO work that gives you a fighting chance in local results.
Ongoing support
I now host the website and handle ongoing maintenance for them. It’s a fraction of what they were paying the agency for their yearly retainer — and they actually get proper support when they need it. No more being stuck on an expensive contract for a service that wasn’t delivering.
