The requirements were clear from the start:
Clean and minimalist. The shepherd huts themselves are beautiful — rustic but refined. The website needed that same feel. No clutter, no visual noise, just enough information presented in a way that felt premium.
Informative. Potential customers need to understand what they’re getting: what’s included, how hiring works, what the huts actually look like inside. The site had to answer those questions without overwhelming people.
SEO optimised. This is a business that lives or dies on being found. When someone searches for luxury toilet hire for a Sussex wedding, Acre Shepherd Huts needs to show up.
The build
I followed my usual process — initial conversations with Nigel to understand the business and his goals, design mockups and revisions until it felt right, then development on WordPress.
Design
Minimalism is harder than it looks. When there’s less on the page, every element has to earn its place. I focused on strong imagery of the huts themselves — they’re genuinely impressive, so the design’s job was to let them shine.
WordPress CMS
Built on WordPress so Nigel can manage updates himself. If they add new huts to the fleet, update pricing, or want to add testimonials from events, he can do it without needing me involved.
SEO
I built SEO in from the start — proper page structure, relevant content, clean URLs, fast loading. For a niche product like this, ranking for searches like “luxury wedding toilet hire Sussex” can make a real difference to enquiry volume.
The result
Nigel’s been really pleased with how it turned out, and more importantly, the site’s been driving a good amount of leads. When someone lands on the page, they immediately get what Acre Shepherd Huts is about — and they can see the quality of what’s on offer.
